Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The lymphatic system is increasingly recognized as both a therapeutic target and a transport pathway that can improve regional drug exposure while limiting systemic toxicity. Advances in formulation science, nanomedicine, imaging, and lymphatic biology now enable more precise delivery to lymphatic vessels, lymph nodes, and lymph-associated disease sites. However, clinical translation remains constrained by incomplete understanding of lymphatic uptake, intranodal distribution, retention, lymph-to-blood transport, formulation-dependent pharmacokinetics, and safety.

This Special Issue aims to integrate mechanistic, technological, preclinical, and clinical advances in lymphatic drug delivery within the scope of Pharmaceutics. We welcome submissions addressing oral, subcutaneous, intradermal, intralymphatic, and intranodal delivery; lymph node-targeted formulations, nanoparticles, biologics, nucleic acids, vaccines, and immunotherapies; physicochemical determinants of lymphatic uptake, distribution, and retention; imaging, modeling, and quantitative pharmacokinetics; and anatomical or biological barriers relevant to lymphatic transport. Applications in cancer, infection, and inflammatory or immune-mediated diseases are particularly encouraged, together with studies on safety, manufacturing, regulatory considerations, and clinical translation. By connecting pharmaceutics with lymphatic biology, biomedical engineering, and therapeutic development, this collection seeks to establish practical design principles and accelerate the development of precise, effective, and clinically translatable lymphatic therapeutics.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Pharmaceutics is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
