Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In this Special Issue entitled “Hot Topics and Perspectives in Thoracic Surgery”, we review some of the major ongoing thoughts in the field of thoracic oncology, functional surgery, and lung transplantation. Practice in thoracic surgery has significantly evolved over the past ten years. However, as with many other medical specialties, our daily practice is guided more by experience than by evidence. Moreover, the technological and medical developments have changed the way we perform thoracic surgery regarding indications, approaches, invasiveness, and outcomes. Here, we review and bring the latest evidence and experience that supports the current practice for various topics.

We have asked an expert in each field to provide the latest evidence and develop a framework of potential evolution in the upcoming years.

We are hoping you will enjoy this trip to the heart of the current thoracic surgery practice as well as to its future!
