Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Modelling and simulation techniques have become key components of modern scientific studies and industry applications concerning metal-related materials. This Special Issue, "Modelling and Simulation in Examination of Deformation and Damage in Metals and Metallic Systems", will showcase recent discoveries regarding the problems of damage and deformation in metals and metallic systems. We welcome the submission of research on topics including, but not limited to

  1. Experimental techniques, methods, and diagnostics for determining the constitutive response of hardening metals in the static and dynamic regimes prior to fracturing;
  2. Hybrid experimental–computational methods to determine the hardening and fracture behaviour of metals;
  3. The modelling and simulation of deformation and damage prior to fracturing;
  4. Strain rate-dependent damage models for the hardening and fracture behaviour of metals;
  5. The assessment of metal structures to determine the onset of fracturing using the accumulated damage;
  6. The response of metals and metallic systems to dynamic loading under high strain rates, impacts, blasts, penetration, shock responses, and extreme conditions;
  7. The hardening behaviour and ductile or brittle fracturing of metals under ultra-high, high, or moderate strain rates;
  8. All experimental and numerical approaches for determining the damage and fracture behaviour of metals and metallic systems.

Manuscript Submission Information

Materials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
