Feature papers represent the most advanced research with significant potential for high impact in the field. A Feature
Paper should be a substantial original Article that involves several techniques or approaches, provides an outlook for
future research directions and describes possible research applications.
Feature papers are submitted upon individual invitation or recommendation by the scientific editors and must receive
positive feedback from the reviewers.
Editor’s Choice articles are based on recommendations by the scientific editors of MDPI journals from around the world.
Editors select a small number of articles recently published in the journal that they believe will be particularly
interesting to readers, or important in the respective research area. The aim is to provide a snapshot of some of the
most exciting work published in the various research areas of the journal.
As Editor-in-Chief of Materials, it is my immense pleasure to announce the winners of the 2018 Travel Awards sponsored by Materials.
I take the opportunity to express my gratitude to all applicants for their interest in this competition as well as to our Selection Committees for their incredible involvement in this difficult task. We had many impressive dossiers for this award from all over the world and selecting two Follows among them was a very difficult task.
Mr Ankit Gupta, a Ph.D. student at the Max-Planck Institut für Eisenforschung, Germany and Dr. Carlo Massaroni, a postdoctoral researcher at the Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, Italy are the Materials 2018 Travel Awards winners. Please join me to congratulate them for their achievements. Each Awardee will receive 800 Swiss Francs towards the participation in an international conference:
Mr Ankit Gupta will present his work entitled “First-principles investigation of thermodynamics and precipitation kinetics in Al-Sc alloys” at the “TMS 2018 Annual Meeting and Exhibition” which will be held on March 11th, 2018 in Phoenix, AZ, USA.
Dr. Carlo Massaroni will present his work entitled “Multi-sensitive FBG-based needle for both relative humidity and breathing rate monitoring” at the “13th Annual IEEE International Symposium on Medical Measurements and Applications (MeMeA 2018)” which will be held on June 11th, 2018 in Rome, Italy.
Materials is very proud to support young scientists and looks forward to receive more applications for 2019 Travel Awards including those that could not be awarded this time.
