Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The marine environment is a treasure trove of chemical diversity, offering a vast array of natural compounds with remarkable therapeutic activities. Among these, marine polysaccharides stand out not only for their inherent biological properties but also for their potential as innovative drug carriers. These natural polymers can facilitate prolonged or targeted drug release, and their synergistic actions with therapeutic agents open new avenues for advanced pharmaceutical applications.

This Special Issue aims to showcase the latest research and developments in harnessing marine natural products for drug delivery. We seek to highlight the multifaceted roles of marine polysaccharides in enhancing drug efficacy, improving targeting mechanisms, and contributing to sustainable pharmaceutical solutions. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: the isolation, characterization, and modification of marine polysaccharides as drug carriers; drug delivery systems utilizing marine-derived polysaccharides; the mechanisms of drug release and targeting using marine carriers; the synergistic effects of marine polysaccharides with therapeutic agents; and innovations in the pharmaceutical industry driven by marine natural products.

The potential of this research field is vast and highly promising. With marine ecosystems continually yielding novel compounds, there are endless possibilities for innovation. Your contributions can help shape the future of drug delivery systems and pave the way for new, effective, and sustainable therapeutic options. We encourage you to submit your original research and review studies to this Special Issue. Join us in exploring and advancing this exciting frontier in pharmaceutical sciences.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Marine Drugs is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
