Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue of the Journal of Risk and Financial Management (JRFM) investigates the transformative effects of digital transformation and fintech innovations in the financial sector, including the enhanced market efficiency that these developments give rise to. The curated papers will trace the evolution of digital banking services and the broad adoption of mobile and electronic payments, underscoring how these advancements boost operational efficiency while introducing novel technological risks, such as cybersecurity threats and operational vulnerabilities. The Special Issue will delve also into the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) into finance, illustrating how big data analytics and predictive modeling can refine decision-making and risk assessment in banking.
Additionally, the goal is to examine the emergence of decentralized finance (DeFi), underpinned by blockchain technology, as an alternative ecosystem that delivers innovative services outside traditional banking channels, albeit with fresh regulatory and security hurdles. Through these explorations, the Special Issue will deliver a scholarly examination of both opportunities and risks, providing actionable insights for the financial industry to navigate rapid technological shifts via robust risk management and enlightened regulatory strategies.
