The 16th International Adenovirus Meeting

Welcome to Cardiff!

Croeso i Gaerdydd a chroeso i Gymru! Welcome to Cardiff and welcome to Wales!

We are delighted to welcome you to the 16th International Adenovirus Meeting (IAMXVI) here in Cardiff, the capital city of Wales.

Cardiff is a vibrant and dynamic city that is steeped in history, myths, and legends (and the Welsh do love a dragon, hence the IAMXVI logo). The iconic Cardiff Castle which adorns the city centre dates back to AD 55, making it almost 2000 years old. Cardiff is also well known as the birthplace of children’s author Roald Dahl, for its iconic green spaces such as Bute Park, and for its arcades—many of which date back to Edwardian and Victorian eras. We will explore the arcades and the castle in our Wednesday afternoon outing.

It is a great pleasure to welcome the adenovirus community to our capital city in south Wales. We hope you will enjoy your time here and may even extend your stay to explore the many beautiful beaches and rugged coastlines.

Our conference will take place in the Centre for Student Life, next to the main campus of Cardiff University, and half a mile’s walk from Cardiff city centre. This state-of-the-art building provides a modern, 500 seat lecture theatre and break-out rooms, with ample space for poster boards, and light and open areas for networking, sponsors, and serving food and drinks.

The International Adenovirus Meeting is the only conference focusing entirely on adenoviruses, comprising all aspects of their biology, pathology, and biotechnological applications.

Thank you all for your contributions to the meeting, which have made for a fantastic programme. With over 90 abstracts submitted, we have done our best to accommodate the optimal balance of talks, posters, and networking opportunities. We hope you enjoy the conference, and we look forward to sharing exciting advancements in adenoviral biology, making new collaborations and creating great memories together.

Best wishes,
