Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The numerical assessment of hull structural responses is becoming increasingly important in ship design. This is due to the need to balance the construction of larger, lighter vessels with stringent safety, environmental, and economic requirements. As ships exceed the limits of traditional classification rules, numerical simulations allow engineers to accurately predict complex structural behaviors, such as hydroelasticity, buckling, and fatigue, which cannot be adequately addressed by empirical formulas alone.
This Special Issue focuses on numerical modeling, experiments and full-scale measurements of the wave loads and structural response of ships. Examples are slamming and green water loads, hull girder load effects, hull structural monitoring, and springing, whipping and quasi-static structural responses related to fatigue and ULS.
We invite researchers from both academia and industry to submit original articles that advance the state of the art within the wave loads and structural response of ships and high-speed light craft or review the progress and future directions of research in this field.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Journal of Marine Science and Engineering is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
