Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The field of spine surgery has continuously advanced alongside the development of surgical instruments and techniques. In particular, minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS), including endoscopic surgery, has rapidly evolved and gained worldwide popularity in recent years. MISS offers several advantages over conventional surgery, such as minimized tissue injury, preservation of normal anatomical structure, reduced blood loss, and faster postoperative recovery. Initially, the indications for MISS were limited; however, ongoing technological advancements have progressively expanded its clinical applications. As a result, MISS has become an essential skill set for modern spine surgeons, contributing to improved patient satisfaction and favorable outcomes.

This Special Issue of Innovations in Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS): Diagnosis and Management aims to provide an international platform for the exchange of knowledge and to promote the development and dissemination of innovative MISS strategies for the diagnosis and treatment of spinal diseases. Through the presentation recent updates and collaborative research, this issue seeks to establish a foundation for the future advancement of diagnostic and therapeutic tools in the field of MISS.

This special issue covers a broad spectrum of topics related to cutting-edge developments in MISS for the treatment of spinal disorders. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Design, development, and clinical application of surgical instruments
  • Innovative diagnostic tools for spinal disease
  • Advances in surgical techniques and procedures, including endoscopic surgery, novel MISS approaches, and minimally invasive deformity surgery

This list is not exhaustive, and submission addressing other relevant aspects of MISS for spinal disease management are also highly encouraged.
