Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Fibrotic diseases develop in various organs, including the heart, lung, liver, and kidney. Fibrosis can also affect the skin and manifest after surgery. Although the causes of fibrotic diseases are different, a common feature is the replacement of parenchyma by fibrotic cells. Numerous in vitro and in vivo studies have investigated the pathological mechanisms of fibrocyte proliferation. However, to date, no drug has been able to effectively prevent fibrotic diseases. The aim of this Special Issue is to publish breakthroughs in the treatment of fibrotic diseases, in particular, studies describing mechanisms at the basis of these diseases and promising drug candidates for their treatment.
