Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Sleep and cardiovascular health are closely interconnected, with a growing body of evidence demonstrating that sleep disorders and disturbances play an important role in the development, progression and prognosis of cardiovascular disease. Sleep-disordered breathing, particularly obstructive and central sleep apnea, as well as sleep duration, sleep quality, circadian disruption and other sleep-related abnormalities, have been associated with hypertension, arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, heart failure, stroke and adverse cardiometabolic outcomes. Despite increasing recognition of these associations, important questions remain regarding underlying pathophysiological mechanisms, optimal diagnostic strategies, clinically meaningful phenotyping, cardiovascular risk stratification and individualized treatment approaches. This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive and multidisciplinary overview of current advances at the intersection of sleep medicine and cardiovascular disease. Particular emphasis will be placed on the pathophysiological mechanisms linking sleep disturbances with cardiovascular dysfunction, including autonomic dysregulation, intermittent hypoxia, inflammation, oxidative stress, endothelial dysfunction and metabolic alterations. The Special Issue will also address advances in clinical phenotyping, diagnostic approaches, biomarkers, wearable technologies and novel methods for identifying patients at increased cardiovascular risk. Furthermore, we aim to highlight emerging evidence regarding the cardiovascular effects of therapeutic interventions for sleep disorders and the transition toward precision and personalized management. Original research articles, reviews, systematic reviews, meta-analyses and clinically relevant studies addressing both established and emerging aspects of sleep and cardiovascular medicine are welcome. By bringing together perspectives from cardiology, sleep medicine, pulmonology, neurology and related disciplines, this Special Issue seeks to improve our understanding of the complex relationship between sleep and cardiovascular health and to support the development of more individualized strategies for prevention, diagnosis, risk stratification and treatment.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Cardiovascular Development and Disease is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
