Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Immunotherapy has revolutionized the treatment landscape for melanoma, offering new hope where conventional therapies have often fallen short. By harnessing the body’s immune system to target and destroy cancer cells, approaches such as immune checkpoint inhibitors, adoptive cell transfer, and cancer vaccines have significantly improved outcomes for many patients with advanced diseases. Despite these advances, challenges remain, including resistance mechanisms, immune-related adverse effects, and variability in patient response. Ongoing research continues to refine therapeutic strategies, identify predictive biomarkers, and explore combination treatments to enhance efficacy and minimize toxicity. This Special Issue aims to highlight recent breakthroughs, emerging concepts, and translational research in melanoma immunotherapy, providing a comprehensive overview of current progress and future directions in this rapidly evolving field.
We invite submissions that focus on immunotherapy for melanoma, exploring the latest advances, emerging strategies, and ongoing challenges in this rapidly evolving field. Over the past decade, immunotherapy has dramatically altered the therapeutic landscape for melanomas, particularly with the success of immune checkpoint inhibitors. However, significant hurdles such as resistance, toxicity, and variable patient responses remain.
This Special Issue aims to showcase innovative research spanning basic science, translational studies, and clinical trials. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Mechanisms of immune evasion and resistance;
- Biomarkers for response and toxicity prediction;
- Combination therapies and rational design strategies;
- Adoptive cell transfer, neoantigen vaccines, cancer vaccines, and oncolytic immunotherapy;
- Advances in tumor microenvironment modulation;
- Real-world data and clinical outcome analyses.
We welcome original research articles, reviews, short communications, and perspectives. We look forward to receiving your contributions.
This Special Issue is supervised by Prof. Dr. Andrzej Mackiewicz and Prof. Dr. Piotr Rutkowski, with the assistance of Dr. Monika Kuciak (Poznan University of Medical Sciences).

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. There is an Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal. For details about the APC please see here. Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
