Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

As one of the many production factors, land has been witnessed to play an important role in rural development, urbanization, industrialization, and economic growth in most countries of the world. However, a series of problems that accompany economic development, such as land degradation, exhaustion of land resources, economic inequity, and land conflict, pose significant challenges to the sustainable development of human beings. With these challenges in mind, we have organized this Special Issue that is dedicated to building a theoretical and practical research platform for studies that explore why land management matters for sustainable development and how sustainable development could be achieved through good practices in land management. Original research and review articles in this research field are welcome. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following: (1) land management and environmental sustainability, especially the practice of sustainable use of farmland for food security; (2) actor analysis in land management, especially the roles and interactions among the state, market, and society in land management and environmental protection; (3) justice and responsible land management, such as the emerging practices in managing land conflict through legislative and policy reforms; (4) policy innovation in land management and environmental sustainability, especially policies with replicable and promotional values. We welcome both qualitative and quantitative research that is well structured and has theoretical depth. Research based on developed and developing countries will be equally evaluated.
