Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Governments are not only required to combat environmental pollution, but they must also pursue economic growth. With these circumstances, the achievement of green development remains the most important way to balance environmental protection and economic growth. However, we still know little about the pathways towards green development. First, green development is similar to concepts of sustainable development or green growth. It is necessary to distinguish these similar concepts and investigate how to measure green development effectively. Second, green development can also be influenced by a set of factors, such as the energy system, economic structure, or level of technological innovation. It is also beneficial for policy formulation to explore developmental driving forces. Third, countries have also implemented many policies to pursue green development. Summarizing these policy experiences and lessons is exceptionally important if we are to examine their findings and promote their dissemination. Therefore, the focus of this Special Issue is on exploring the measurement of green development, its driving forces, and the experience of the policies adopted across the world. The topics touched upon include:

  1. Measurement of green development;
  2. Energy system and green development;
  3. Economic system and green development;
  4. Innovation system and green development;
  5. Environmental policies and green development;
  6. Green development practices and experiences in the world.
