Dear Colleagues,
Urban green spaces are vital constituents of urban landscapes, augmenting both environmental and human well-being. They confer a diverse range of benefits, including ameliorating air quality, mitigating the urban-heat-island effect, providing habitats for wildlife, and fostering physical and mental health. With the surge in urbanization and climate change, the significance of green spaces for environmental and human well-being has become even more pronounced. This Special Issue amalgamates empirical research that scrutinizes the affirmative impacts of green spaces on the environment and human health, encompassing a broad spectrum of subjects such as social and ecological benefits, air and water quality repercussions, and the correlation between green spaces and mental health. The contributions accentuate the necessity of preserving and developing green spaces, and furnish innovative strategies for conceiving and administering them in urban domains. Moreover, the research discoveries have substantial policy implications that can inform decision making and urban planning. Overall, this Special Issue aspires to supplement the burgeoning literature on green spaces and their effects on environmental and human well-being. It is of interest to scholars, practitioners, and policymakers who are keen on promoting sustainable urban development and enriching the quality of life for urban inhabitants.
