Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Many non-communicable diseases are neglected despite causing considerable health burdens. Dementia represents one of the most prevalent and challenging non-communicable diseases within our aging population [1]. The number of people with dementia in the EU-27 is estimated to be 7,853,705, and this figure is expected to nearly double by 2050 to 14,298,6713 [2]. People with dementia often have unmet care needs and engage frequently with health services that struggle to provide a person-centered approach to their care.
This Special Issue of the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health (IJERPH) focuses on the current state of knowledge and innovation in care for people with dementia living in the community and long-term care settings. Papers detailing new approaches to risk assessment and management in acute/long-term care are also welcome. We are also interested in new and innovative approaches that promote improvement in quality of life, facilitate understanding, and support people with dementia, their families and carers from post diagnostic phase to end-of-life care.
We will accept manuscripts from different disciplines including humanities social science; epidemiology; intervention studies; risk and health impact assessment; and risk management including healthcare policy and guidelines. We are particularly interested in studies that include people with dementia as co-researchers and studies that use innovative/creative approaches in their methodologies.
