Ecological Civilization Construction and Green Development: Technology, Behavior and Policy

This special issue belongs to the section “Environmental Science and Engineering“.

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development marked the beginning of a new, more sustainable era of human history. To better achieve the sustainable development goals and scientifically handle the relationship between economic development and environmental protection, governments are considering the mutual coordination of the economy, society, and the environment, using strategies such as the EU issued European Green Deal in 2019, China proposed Ecological Civilization Construction in 2015.

Compared with previous national strategies which aimed to incorporate environmental concerns in industrial and economic policies, ecological civilization and green development strategies elevate environmental protection to a new level in the national policy arena. Both strategies are attempting to establish a long-term mechanism of environmental protection in which enterprises, officials, and the public can actively participate. Technological innovation, awareness cultivation, and policy design will play huge roles in this process. It is necessary to summarize the experiences of the development process of these strategies in order to provide a reference for developing countries to find a new path of sustainable development.

We are seeking papers that address these topics for this Special Issue. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

  1. Ecological civilization construction.
  2. Green development.
  3. Sustainable development.
  4. Circular economy.
  5. Carbon neutralization.
  6. Green behavior.
  7. Green awareness cultivation.
  8. Green technology innovation.
  9. Policy design.
