Special Issue Information

Dear colleagues,

The family constitutes a primary ecological system that plays a crucial role in shaping the health and mental well-being of children and adolescents. This Special Issue seeks to advance understanding of how familial processes—including parenting styles, parent–child relationships, communication patterns, and the provision of emotional and material resources—interact with broader social systems to influence health and mental health outcomes. We welcome interdisciplinary contributions that investigate these complex dynamics, with a particular emphasis on mental health and holistic health aspects. This includes cognitive, emotional, psychological, and behavioural dimensions, all of which are fundamental to the overall well-being of young individuals.

This Special Issue welcomes high-quality contributions addressing the health issues of children and adolescents related to the family and their social systems, and potential topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Family socialization processes and health outcomes;
  • The interplay between family, school, peer, and community systems;
  • Cognitive development, mental health, and emotional well-being;
  • The impact of socioeconomic factors and social support on family functioning;
  • Cross-cultural and longitudinal perspectives on child and adolescent health;
  • Interventions and policies supporting families to promote health and well-being.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.
