Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite you to submit your work for a Special Issue devoted to the systemic challenges facing contemporary prevention and health promotion.
Prevention and health promotion are fundamental, complementary pillars of public health. Prevention focuses on disease prevention and early detection. Health promotion encompasses multifaceted educational and community-based activities that motivate healthy lifestyles and increase control over one's health. Contemporary health promotion and prevention require a shift from the model of traditional medical intervention to holistic health capacity building. Key systemic challenges include: underfunding of prevention, low patient attendance at preventive screenings, demographic changes in society, and the need to integrate health education more closely into everyday life.
This Special Issue welcomes original research articles and reviews. Research areas may include the following topics:
- Economics and effectiveness of prevention (indicators of allocation to primary prevention compared to other healthcare system expenditures);
- Healthcare system coordination and inter-collaboration in prevention and health promotion (an analysis of data flow and the integration of competencies across various healthcare institutions and professionals);
- Effectiveness of health policy programs (an evaluation of implemented programs and the recommendation system for preventive and promotional activities in the context of the goals set in the National Health Programs);
- Digitization, telemedicine, and telenursing in prevention and health promotion (the use of mobile applications and portals in health education).

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Healthcare is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
