Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite submissions to the Special Issue “Lipid Disorders in Primary Care: Challenges and Opportunities for Family Physicians”. Dyslipidemia remains one of the most important modifiable risk factors for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, yet it is often underdiagnosed or insufficiently treated in everyday practice. Family physicians play a central role in cardiovascular prevention, early detection, long-term risk assessment, lifestyle counselling, treatment initiation, and follow-up of patients with lipid disorders.
This Special Issue aims to explore current challenges and opportunities in the management of lipid disorders in primary care. It focuses on practical, evidence-based, patient-centred, and system-level approaches to improving cardiovascular prevention, in line with the scope of Healthcare, particularly health services, public health, health policy, digital health, and quality of care.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Screening and cardiovascular risk assessment in primary care;
- Management of dyslipidemia, familial hypercholesterolemia, and lipoprotein(a);
- Implementation of lipid-lowering guidelines and treatment adherence;
- Lifestyle interventions, patient education, and shared decision-making;
- Digital tools, telemedicine, and health system strategies.
Both original research articles and review papers are welcome.
We would also appreciate it if you could indicate your interest in contributing a manuscript. A tentative title or topic would be helpful.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Healthcare is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
