Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The transition toward sustainable and low-carbon energy systems has become a central priority for governments, industries, and international organizations worldwide. Rising energy demand, climate change concerns, and the need for energy security have accelerated efforts to transform traditional energy systems toward cleaner, more efficient, and more resilient alternatives. In this context, energy economics and policy play a crucial role in shaping the pathways of sustainability transitions by influencing technological innovation, investment decisions, and regulatory frameworks. This Special Issue aims to explore the economic and policy dimensions of sustainable energy transitions and their implications for environmental sustainability and economic development. It seeks to provide a platform for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to present innovative research addressing the complex interactions between energy markets, policy instruments, technological change, and environmental outcomes. In line with the aims and scope of Energies, this Special Issue welcomes theoretical, empirical, and policy-oriented contributions that advance our understanding of energy transition processes at local, national, and global levels. Particular attention will be given to studies that investigate renewable energy adoption, energy market dynamics, carbon mitigation strategies, green innovation, and the role of public policies in accelerating sustainable energy systems. Potential topics include renewable energy economics, energy policy and regulation, energy market reforms, energy efficiency, green innovation, and the socioeconomic impacts of energy transition policies. By bringing together interdisciplinary perspectives and rigorous empirical evidence, this Special Issue aims to contribute to the development of effective strategies that support the global transition toward sustainable and resilient energy systems.
