47th Meeting of the Italian Section of the Combustion Institute—Advancing Combustion for a Sustainable and Low-Carbon Future

The 47th Meeting of the Italian Section of the Combustion Institute (ASICI) will be held in Pisa, Italy, on 12–15 May 2025, at the Centro Congressi Le Benedettine of the University of Pisa. The conference aims to promote scientific exchange and collaboration among researchers, engineers, and professionals in the combustion field. This year’s theme, Advancing Combustion for a Sustainable and Low-Carbon Future, emphasizes innovative approaches to combustion, with a particular focus on low-emission technologies, alternative fuels, and net-zero energy systems. The program includes oral and poster sessions, plenary lectures, an industrial round table, and a Women in Combustion networking event.

A special focus will be placed on combustion technologies enabling a sustainable and low-carbon future, in line with the increasing relevance of decarbonization strategies across the energy and transport sectors.

The Main Topics Include the Following:

  • Low-Emission Combustion Technologies;
  • Reaction Kinetics;
  • Laminar and Turbulent Flames;
  • Spray, Droplet, and Supercritical Combustion;
  • Detonation, Explosion, and Supersonic Combustion;
  • Solid Fuel Combustion;
  • Propulsion and Engines;
  • Soot, Nanomaterials, and Large Molecules;
  • Multi-Physics Phenomena (e.g., plasma-assisted combustion, catalysis, micro-reactors).

Organizing and Scientific Committee:

  • Dr. Mario Commodo (CNR-STEMS);
  • Prof. Chiara Galletti (Università di Pisa);
  • Dr. Rachele Lamioni (Università di Pisa);
  • Dr. Giancarlo Sorrentino (CNR-STEMS);
  • Dr. Gianluigi De Falco (CNR-STEMS);
  • Mr. Filippo Fruzza (Università di Pisa).
