Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The rapid integration of ubiquitous computing into healthcare systems has revolutionized the way in which health services are delivered, monitored, and managed. Technologies such as mobile and wearable devices, IoT-enabled systems, and ambient intelligence provide innovative solutions for real-time health monitoring, adaptive diagnostics, and personalized care. These advancements enhance patient outcomes, increase accessibility, and empower individuals to take an active role in their health management.

This Special Issue, titled “Ubiquitous Computing and Applications in Digital Healthcare Systems”, seeks to showcase cutting-edge research that leverages ubiquitous computing technologies to transform digital healthcare systems. By addressing critical challenges in healthcare delivery and management, this Issue aligns with the journal's aim to advance interdisciplinary collaboration between computer science, engineering, and healthcare research.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:

- Mobile and wearable sensing technologies for health monitoring;

- Real-time and adaptive systems for digital health diagnostics;

- Intelligent algorithms for personalized healthcare analytics;

- Ambient intelligence systems for healthcare;

- Privacy-preserving methods for health data collection, analysis, and management;

- IoT-enabled platforms for remote health monitoring;

- Large Language Models (LLMs) for digital and mobile healthcare applications;

- Multimodal data fusion for physiological and behavioural insights;

- Human–computer interaction in digital healthcare systems;

- Emerging wearable materials and technologies;

- Long-term studies of ubiquitous healthcare systems in real-world scenarios;

- Ethical deployments of ubiquitous computing systems in historically underserved communities;

- Investigation of new methodologies for intervention (e.g., conversational agents, AR/VR applications).

We look forward to receiving contributions that push the boundaries of ubiquitous computing and digital healthcare systems.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
