Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Following the remarkable success of the first edition of the Special Issue titled “Microstructure and Properties of Metals and Alloys”, we are pleased to announce the second edition of this topic.

This Special Issue focuses on the microstructure and properties of various metals/alloys, and welcomes original research articles, comprehensive review papers, and short communications. We invite contributions that address the multi-scale characterization and quantitative description of microstructure, encompassing—but not limited to—phase constitution and evolution, grain morphology and size distribution, crystallographic texture and orientation relationships, as well as interfacial behavior, grain boundary characteristics and lattice defects. Corresponding properties of interest cover a broad spectrum, including mechanical behavior (strength, toughness, fatigue, creep), physical attributes (magnetic, electrical, and thermal responses), and chemical durability (corrosion, oxidation, and hydrogen embrittlement). We cordially invite researchers, engineers, and interdisciplinary scientists worldwide to contribute their seminal work to this Special Issue.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Crystals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
