Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Liquid crystal-based display and photonic technology develop rapidly, driving innovation across many scenarios, such as consumer electronics, optical communications, sensing, etc. To highlight recent breakthroughs in this field, we are launching a Special Issue edited by the Section Editor-in-Chief (Prof. Vladimir Chigrinov), and we warmly invite Editorial Board Members and leading researchers to contribute feature papers showcasing their latest work.
This Special Issue will broadly cover innovations in new liquid crystal display technologies and photonics devices, including field-sequential color displays, ultra-high-resolution panels, and super-fast, high-resolution, low power consumption ferroelectric liquid crystal panels. In addition, the Special Issue will encompass tunable photonic devices such as spatial light modulators (SLMs), tunable lenses, optical vortex generators, beam steering devices for AR/VR and LiDAR, optical shutters, attenuators, and switches for telecommunications. Contributions involving reconfigurable antennas, polarization-sensitive sensors, and novel liquid crystal-based systems for microplastics visualization and classification are also highly encouraged.
Through this collection, we aim to provide a comprehensive overview of cutting-edge liquid crystal technologies and to offer a valuable resource for researchers working in this fast-advancing field.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Crystals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
