Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

iSCSi—the International Conference on Industry Science and Computer Sciences Innovation—2022 will be held in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto, Portugal, from 9 to 11 March 2022, and it intends to bring together leading international experts on computer and production system technologies, logistics, and cutting-edge information systems and technologies, from academia and industry to discuss ground-breaking issues and trends in computer technologies that enable manufacturing, supply chain management, Industry 4.0, and sustainable growth and advances in computer sciences that support the industry sector. For more information about the conference, please use this link: https://iscsi-conference.org/.

iSCSi topics are organized in vertical and horizontal tracks within the computer technologies that advance support industry all over the world:

  • Special track on industry sciences, tools, and applications;
  • Special track on computer sciences and applications in industry;
  • Special track on society, organizations, and people;
  • Special track on research methodology and methods in industry and computer sciences.

The authors of selected papers presented at the conference are invited to submit their extended versions to this Special Issue of the journal Computers. Submitted papers should be extended to the size of regular research or review articles with a minimum of 50% extension of new results. All submitted papers will undergo our standard peer-review procedure. Accepted papers will be published in open access format in Computers and collected together on the Special Issue website. There are no page charges for this journal.

Please prepare and format your paper according to the Instructions for Authors. Use the LaTeX or Microsoft Word template file of the journal (both are available from the Instructions for Authors page). Manuscripts should be submitted online via our susy.mdpi.com editorial system.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Computers is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1800 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

Given the growing number of development projects, proper project planning and management are crucial. The purpose of this paper is to introduce a heuristic algorithm for scheduling a power plant project construction and project resource management to determine the size of project buffers and feeding buffers. This algorithm consists of three steps: 1. estimating the duration of project activities; 2. determining the size of the project buffer and feeding buffers; and 3. simulating the mentioned algorithm, which will be explained below. Innovations of this research are as follows: estimating the exact duration of project activities by using a heuristic algorithm, in addition to determining the buffer size; calculating both project buffer and feeding buffers; and applying the algorithm to implement an ACC used in combined cycle power plant projects as a numerical example. In order to evaluate the proposed algorithm, inputs from this project were run through several algorithms recently presented. The results showed that a suitable amount of buffers can be allocated for projects using this algorithm. Full article
