Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The world we live in is increasingly permeated by realities parallel to our real one. So-called virtual reality is now part of our lives and the many activities that we carry out during our day. Virtual reality is, in turn, related to the concept of augmented reality, which represents a technology still in solid expansion but which was created and imagined several decades ago.  This Special Issue aims to verify the state of the art relating to the application of augmented reality in the field of preventive maintenance of vehicles, also including buses and trucks, given that from an analysis of the sector literature, this topic appears to be very interesting but still little explored. Numerous technologies are already available for these applications (3D glasses, tablets, smart mirrors), and others will be implemented in the future.

Potential topics include but are not limited to:

  • Augmented reality;
  • Virtual reality;
  • Predictive maintenance;
  • Vehicle maintenance;
  • 3D glasses;
  • User-centered design;
  • Industry 4.0.

Benefits of Publishing in a Special Issue

  • Ease of navigation: Grouping papers by topic helps scholars navigate broad scope journals more efficiently.
  • Greater discoverability: Special Issues support the reach and impact of scientific research. Articles in Special Issues are more discoverable and cited more frequently.
  • Expansion of research network: Special Issues facilitate connections among authors, fostering scientific collaborations.
  • External promotion: Articles in Special Issues are often promoted through the journal's social media, increasing their visibility.
  • e-Book format: Special Issues with more than 10 articles can be published as dedicated e-books, ensuring wide and rapid dissemination.
