Dear Colleagues,
The global transition toward a carbon-neutral society calls for catalytic technologies capable of converting renewable energy into chemical fuels while simultaneously mitigating environmental pollution. Photo- and electrocatalysis stand at the forefront of this endeavor, enabling green hydrogen production via water splitting, the reduction of CO2 into value-added chemicals, and the degradation of organic pollutants under mild conditions. Recent advances in nanostructured and porous materials—including semiconductor heterojunctions, metal–organic frameworks, single-atom catalysts, and two-dimensional composites—have opened new opportunities to tailor active sites, promote charge separation, and accelerate interfacial reaction kinetics.
This Special Issue invites original research articles and reviews on the design, synthesis, characterization, and mechanistic understanding of photo-, electro-, and photoelectrocatalysts for sustainable energy conversion and environmental applications. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions, overall water splitting, CO2 and nitrogen reduction, pollutant degradation and water/air purification, in situ/operando characterization, and theoretical insights into catalytic mechanisms.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Catalysts is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
