Sustainable Catalysts for Biofuel and Bioproduct Generation

Dear Colleagues,

The increasing importance of renewable resources has driven a global shift away from oil-derived products (e.g., petrol, diesel, plastics) due to environmental and sustainability concerns. Biomass offers significant advantages, including adaptability to various climates, sustainable economic growth for developing regions, and eco-friendly processes.

Given the heterogeneous nature of biomass, its potential applications in energy and chemical production are vast. To compete with traditional methods, enhancing the efficiency of biofuel and bioproduct manufacturing through catalytic processes is essential.

This Special Issue invites original research on advances in catalytic technologies for producing biofuels and bioproducts from renewable materials. Submissions should explore process feasibility, competitiveness, sustainability, and proposed mechanisms.

The Special Issue includes (but is not limited to): biomass, biofuels, bioproducts, biochemicals, biorefineries, biodiesel, bioethanol, biomethane, bio lubricants, homogeneous/heterogeneous catalysis, photocatalysis, electrocatalysis.

Manuscript Submission Information

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Catalysts is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
