Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Flavonoids are naturally occurring polyphenolic compounds widely distributed in fruits, vegetables, and medicinal plants, known for their antioxidant and diverse bioactive properties. In recent years, increasing attention has been given to their versatile chemical behaviour and their potential role in the development of functional materials for catalysis and related applications.

Due to their rich structural diversity and coordination ability, flavonoid-based systems and their derivatives can contribute to the design of novel catalytic platforms with tunable properties. These may be applied in a variety of transformations, including oxidation–reduction processes, and environmentally relevant reactions aligned with green chemistry principles. Further optimization through structural modification or incorporation into composite systems can enhance their stability, activity, and applicability.

This Special Issue aims to provide a broad forum for research on flavonoid-based systems and bio-inspired catalytic materials, including synthesis, characterization, mechanistic studies, and catalytic applications. It seeks to highlight recent advances and emerging concepts in sustainable catalysis.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Catalysts is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
