Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Oral pathology encompasses diverse conditions affecting the oral and maxillofacial region, including mucosal diseases, salivary gland disorders, oral potentially malignant disorders, and orofacial pain syndromes. Understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying these conditions is fundamental to elucidating disease pathogenesis and advancing diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
This Special Issue will focus on basic and translational research that investigates the pathogenesis and molecular mechanisms of oral diseases, including inflammatory pathways, immune dysregulation, stromal–epithelial interactions, and carcinogenesis processes.
Priority topics include biomarker discovery for early diagnosis and disease monitoring, novel biological materials for tissue engineering and regenerative applications, and innovative therapeutic technologies such as targeted drug delivery systems and biological agents.
We encourage the submission of original research exploring the development of new diagnostic tools at the molecular and cellular level, studies on drug development and pharmacological mechanisms, and translational research that bridges laboratory findings with clinical applications. Review articles that synthesize current knowledge in these areas are also welcome.
Manuscripts addressing precision medicine approaches, molecular profiling, genomics, proteomics, and the biological basis of disease heterogeneity are particularly welcome. Studies on the molecular underpinnings of chronic oral conditions will receive special consideration.
The goal is to advance laboratory medicine in oral pathology, fostering improved patient outcomes through mechanistic understanding and translational innovation.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Biomedicines is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
