Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Recent advances in cardiovascular medicine have illuminated the complex relationship between high blood pressure (hypertension) and kidney function or disease. Hypertension can be both a cause and a consequence of kidney dysfunction, creating a vicious cycle that worsens cardiovascular risk.
It emphasizes innovative diagnostic approaches, therapeutic strategies, and mechanistic insights. In addition to the well-recognized bidirectional interaction between hypertension and kidney dysfunction, it is increasingly important to consider independent yet often overlooked risk factors. For example, hyperinsulinemia associated with insulin resistance has the potential to induce hypertension and renal injury simultaneously. By drawing attention to this emerging area, the Special Issue aims to encourage submissions that explore its pathophysiological relevance and clinical implications.
Overall, this Special Issue aims to present the latest perspectives on renal diseases and hypertension, focusing on disease mechanisms, contributing factors, and current and emerging treatment strategies.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Biomedicines is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
