Dear Colleagues,
The renin–angiotensin system remains a cornerstone of cardiovascular, renal and metabolic physiology, with far-reaching implications for human health and disease. Beyond its classical role in blood pressure regulation and fluid–electrolyte homeostasis, contemporary research has revealed an increasingly complex and tissue-specific network influencing inflammation, fibrosis, immune modulation, neurohumoral signaling and cellular metabolism. These advances have expanded the relevance of the renin–angiotensin system to a broad spectrum of conditions, including hypertension, heart failure, chronic kidney disease, metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative diseases and emerging infectious and inflammatory pathologies.
This Special Issue aims to provide a comprehensive and forward-looking overview of the current state of renin–angiotensin system research, integrating fundamental mechanisms with translational and clinical perspectives. We invite original research articles, state-of-the-art reviews and concise perspectives that address established and novel components of the renin–angiotensin system, including but not limited to angiotensin peptides, receptors, enzymes, intracellular and tissue-specific renin–angiotensin system signaling and interactions with other regulatory systems.
Topics of interest include advances in renin–angiotensin system pharmacology and therapeutics, emerging drug targets, precision and sex-specific medicine, genetic and epigenetic regulation and the role of the renin–angiotensin system in aging and chronic disease progression. Contributions exploring innovative methodologies, biomarkers and future clinical applications are particularly encouraged.
By bringing together diverse perspectives from basic science to clinical investigation, this Special Issue seeks to highlight critical knowledge gaps, stimulate interdisciplinary dialogue and define future directions for research and therapeutic innovation within the evolving landscape of the renin–angiotensin system.

Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process.
