Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Various non-cardiac diseases, such as traumatic brain injury (TBI), sepsis, or burn injury, have been reported to induce cardiac dysfunction. Recently, we have witnessed the adverse cardiac effects of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). Specifically, the mortality of COVID19 patients increases from 5% to 50% in patients with cardiac dysfunction. This special issue will cover studies on the effects of non-cardiac diseases on cardiac function. We will also cover the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying the cardiac response to non-cardiac diseases and provide insights on cardio-protective therapeutic strategies. This special issue invites original research papers, review articles, commentaries, short communications, and perspective pieces on all aspects of the cardiac response to non-cardiac diseases, from basic to translational research both in vivo and in vitro.
