Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Restorative dentistry is undergoing a significant transformation through the integration of bioengineering principles, digital technologies, and advanced biomaterials. Innovations in CAD/CAM dentistry, digital workflows, adhesive techniques, and minimally invasive clinical approaches are reshaping the way clinicians diagnose, plan, and deliver restorative treatments. This Special Issue, titled “Application of Bioengineering to Restorative Dentistry,” aims to highlight current advances and emerging strategies that support more predictable, conservative, esthetic, and biologically compatible restorative care.
We invite authors to submit original manuscripts focused on the application of bioengineering in dental medicine and restorative dentistry. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, novel CAD/CAM systems, digital workflows, new restorative techniques, bioengineering evaluation of dental materials, resin composites, ceramics, adhesive systems, conservative restorative approaches, minimally invasive dentistry, partial restorations, non-preparation restorations, caries removal strategies, and innovative approaches for tooth preservation and restoration. Studies exploring the mechanical, biological, clinical, and esthetic performance of restorative materials and techniques are particularly encouraged.
This Special Issue welcomes a broad range of manuscript types, including original research, in vitro and in vivo studies, randomized controlled trials, comprehensive reviews, and clinical studies describing new approaches in restorative dentistry. Submissions that present innovative materials, technologies, workflows, or clinical techniques with the potential to improve patient outcomes and advance the field of restorative dentistry are especially welcome. We look forward to receiving high-quality contributions from researchers, clinicians, and educators working at the intersection of bioengineering and restorative dental science.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Bioengineering is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
