Advanced User Experience for Human–Computer Interaction

Dear Colleagues,

Over the past decade, user interfaces have undergone profound transformations: from mobile and cloud ecosystems to multimodal, immersive, and intelligent systems. The integration of affective computing, adaptive and personalized interfaces, generative AI, and advanced sensing technologies has radically expanded the possibilities for designing more natural, engaging, and human-centered experiences. At the same time, important challenges have emerged regarding transparency, trust, inclusion, and long-term impact.

This Special Issue aims to explore the most recent advances in User Experience (UX) for Human–Computer Interaction (HCI), offering a comprehensive overview of methods, solutions, and perspectives that are redefining the way humans interact with machines. Our goal is to showcase significant advances, bridge theory and practice, and reflect critically on the societal implications of next-generation interactions. Topics of interest include but are not limited to the followers:

- Affective and emotion-aware systems;

- Personalization and adaptivity;

- Generative AI and human–AI co-creation;

- Transparency, trust, and explainability;

- Innovative UX evaluation methods;

- New interaction paradigms;

- Accessibility and inclusion.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
