Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

I am very glad to invite you to contribute to a Special Issue on Advances of Functional Fibres, Fabrics and Clothing.

Encompassing a wide range of materials and technologies, functional textiles represent more than 40% of the global technical textile market. As technological maturity progresses, the variety and quality of available products is growing and the functional textile market is expected to triple, reaching a value of 244 billion US dollars worldwide in 2025, on the basis of a forecast by Transparency Market Research.

Successful market cases are the result of avant-garde research works done by the textile scientific community, which is broadening its action range in the fields of medicine, pharmaceutics, sport science, electronics, and advanced materials.

This Special Issue seeks contributions in the form of full papers, short communications, and reviews on the following topics:

- Bio-functional fibres and fabrics;

- Functional finishing processes;

- Stimuli-responsive textiles;

- e-Textiles and e-clothing.

I look forward to receiving your contributions to push the boundary of functional textiles even further in the forthcoming decade.
