Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Additive manufacturing has rapidly evolved from a prototyping tool to an enabling technology for industrial design, manufacturing, and process intensification. This Special Issue aims to highlight recent advances in additive manufacturing for industrial applications, with a particular focus on how novel materials, design methods, manufacturing strategies, and performance validation are being translated into practical engineering solutions. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, advanced 3D printing methods, metal and polymer additive manufacturing, design for additive manufacturing, topology optimisation, process intensification, functional and structured components, heat and mass transfer devices, catalytic reactors, flow distributors, energy systems, biomedical and aerospace components, advanced materials, and quality assurance.

The Special Issue particularly welcomes contributions that demonstrate clear industrial relevance, including experimental validation, scale-up, techno-economic considerations, durability assessment, digital design workflows, and integration of additive manufacturing with modelling, simulation, automation, and artificial intelligence. Both original research articles and review papers are encouraged. The overall aim of this Special Issue is to provide a platform for researchers and industry practitioners to present emerging developments that move additive manufacturing beyond laboratory-scale demonstration toward robust, scalable, and commercially relevant industrial implementation.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
