Dear Colleagues,
Chronic non-communicable diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers, arise from multifaceted interactions between genetic predispositions and environmental factors, with diet playing a central role. The growing field of nutrigenomics seeks to unravel how nutrients modulate gene expression, offering the potential for highly personalized dietary strategies to prevent or manage chronic disease. Increasing evidence suggests that genetic variants, epigenetic modifications, and microbiome composition influence individual responses to nutrition and that sex differences may significantly impact gene–diet interactions and related health outcomes.
This Special Issue aims to compile high-quality contributions that explore the complex interplay between genetic makeup and dietary exposures in the context of chronic disease. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Gene–diet interactions and chronic disease risk;
- Sex-specific responses to nutritional interventions;
- Epigenetic modifications induced by dietary factors;
- Microbiome-mediated gene–nutrient interactions;
- Omics technologies in personalized nutrition;
- Nutrigenetics and precision medicine approaches;
- Clinical trials testing genotype-based nutritional interventions;
- Biomarkers for personalized dietary strategies.
We welcome original research articles, clinical studies, reviews, and comparative studies and particularly encourage the submission of contributions that bridge the gap between molecular insights and translational applications.
