Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Intelligent manufacturing development requires that the underlying Operational Technology (OT) systems and OT environments operate in an increasingly resilient manner (i.e., are stable, robust and available) due to a rising number of advanced cyberattacks targeting both IT and OT environments. The more there is to attack, the more that will be attacked as artificial intelligence (AI)—such as the recent Mythos and Chat GPT Cyber large language models—is used by attackers. Intelligent manufacturing is a concept leveraging the combination of IT systems, Internet-of-Thing (IoT) systems, OT systems, cloud services and AI services into an increasingly data-driven, adaptive/flexible, and autonomous system of production and distribution. Thus, intelligent manufacturing is necessary for society to function as it should, as the output from manufacturing and processing industries, as well as critical infrastructures, is needed in many parts of society. Furthermore, the connection between, and convergence of, IT and OT environments puts additional cybersecurity requirements on intelligent manufacturing development. In addition, the rapid legal and regulatory developments concerning cybersecurity and safety have an impact on intelligent manufacturing, as most OT systems are connected. These are all challenges which will be addressed in this Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
