Aquatic Animal Pathogens Favoured by Climate Change and Other Abiotic Factors

Dear Colleagues,

Aquatic habitats are largely influenced by climate change, leading to severe ecological and economic limitations. New pathogen invasions, mass mortalities and harmful algal blooms are among the direct consequences causing risk to the productivity of both natural and artificial aquatic ecosystems. The current Special Issue focuses on the detection of emerging pathogens that infect aquatic animals, in both the natural environment and aquaculture. Novel technologies, such as metagenomics applied in a water column for microbiome identification, aside from animal tissues, are also welcome. The scope of the Special Issue includes the evaluation of the presence of aquatic pathogens under the prism of climate change, from biological, pathophysiological, and economic points of view. In addition, epidemiological studies are also welcome.

Animals is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
