Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Agricultural waste, ranging from crop residues and animal manure to food processing by-products, represents a largely underutilized resource with significant potential for valorization. Traditionally regarded as an environmental burden, agricultural waste is now gaining recognition as a valuable input for sustainable agriculture, bio-based materials, renewable energy, and soil and water management strategies. The transition from waste to resource aligns with circular bio-economy principles and supports both environmental sustainability and rural economic development.

The aim of this Special Issue is to bring together recent advances and innovative approaches in the valorization of agricultural wastes, highlighting technologies and systems that enhance their conversion into value-added products. This includes (but is not limited to) biochar production, composting, anaerobic digestion, extraction of bioactive compounds, and integration into smart farming systems.

We invite cutting-edge research articles, comprehensive reviews, and case studies that explore both the scientific and practical aspects of agricultural waste valorization. An emphasis will be placed on interdisciplinary approaches that link waste management, sustainability, and agricultural system optimization.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
