Dear Colleagues,
The global aviation industry is undergoing a significant transformation as it responds to growing environmental, economic, technological, and geopolitical pressures. Achieving sustainability in air transport has become a strategic priority for airlines, airports, regulators, and industry stakeholders seeking to balance continued sector growth with the urgent need to reduce environmental impacts, enhance operational efficiency, and strengthen system resilience. This Special Issue focuses on sustainability in air transport management and operations, addressing emerging challenges and opportunities shaping the future of aviation. Particular attention is being paid to the role of digital transformation, artificial intelligence, evolving air connectivity patterns, geopolitical instability, military conflicts, pandemics, and other global disruptions that influence aviation systems and their long-term sustainability. Contributions are invited that explore innovative strategies, policies, and technological solutions supporting sustainable airline and airport operations, including decarbonization pathways, sustainable aviation fuels, operational optimization, and resilient network planning.
This Special Issue also welcomes research examining regulatory frameworks, market strategies, and stakeholder collaboration contributing to sustainable development across the aviation ecosystem. By bringing together interdisciplinary perspectives, this Special Issue will advance knowledge and support evidence-based decision-making for achieving a more sustainable, resilient, and adaptive global air transport system.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Aerospace is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
