MDPI to Collaborate with EPFL on Open Scientific Research in Organic Chemistry

Following its tradition of open scientific publishing, MDPI now joins forces with the Chemical Information Service of the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) to go one step further. With MDPI's support and under the supervision of Dr. Luc Patiny from the EPFL, an open source e-infrastructure for research in organic chemistry will be developed.

The objective is to build a flexible platform that can support organic chemists with their research in the form of a digital laboratory notebook with advanced chemo-informatic tools. The platform will be an open database that will make chemical data widely available, allowing users to quickly upload, access, and visualize annotated chemical information. The database will also serve as a tool for long-term storage and protection of data using standardized formats.
