Physics | 2020 Physics Young Investigator Award — Winner Announced

It is our pleasure to announce the winner of the 2020 Physics Young Investigator Award, which is sponsored by the open access journal Physics. The award has been granted to Dr. Edoardo Baldini.

Dr. Edoardo Baldini is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. Dr. Edoardo Baldini works in experimental physics, and his research interests include the nonequilibrium dynamics of quantum materials, the discovery and coherent manipulation of collective modes, photoinduced phase transitions, ultrafast terahertz to ultraviolet spectroscopy, and the development and implementation of time- and angle-resolved methods. Dr. Edoardo Baldini received his PhD in 2017 and has an outstanding publication record, comprising over thirty publications in leading scientific journals, which have attracted high interest, and has also recently published a monograph in Springer. Dr. Baldini has received many prestigious grants and awards in the area of physics, and he works and participates in a great deal of physics education. His achievements are outstanding in today's competitive environment.

We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to all applicants for their interest in this competition and to the Award Selection Committee for their incredible involvement in this difficult task. For this award, we evaluated many impressive candidates from all over the world, and selecting only one among them was indeed very challenging. We would like to thank all of the applicants for what was, collectively, a range of diverse and fascinating research topics, and congratulate the winner for his accomplishment. Considering the high quality of the contributions, all applicants are invited to submit a paper to Physics, which will be considered for publication with no APC this year.
