About the Event

The Munin Conference is an annual international event dedicated to scholarly publishing and communication. It attracts librarians, research administrators, and researchers from the Nordic countries and across the globe. The conference's core focus is on the essential concepts of Open Access, Open Data, and the broader Open Science movement.

When?

The conference will take place from November 18–20, 2025.

Where?

The event will be held onsite at The Arctic University of Norway campus in Tromsø, Norway, and will also be streamed worldwide.

What to Expect?

The 20th Munin Conference program will explore a broad range of current topics shaping the future of scholarly communication, with an emphasis on "openness." Key discussion areas and features include:

  • Core Themes: Key topics include Open Science in a Closing World, Indigenous Rights in Research (with a focus on ethical and effective collaboration), and Transparency and Replicability in Science.
  • Infrastructure and Agency: Sessions dedicated to repairing the gaps in research infrastructure, exploring the role of collective action, and promoting agency among scholars and librarians to accelerate the transition to Open Science.
  • Keynote Speakers: The program features keynotes by prominent academics, including Dr. Kenneth Ruud and Dr. Tracey Weissgerber.
  • Networking: Opportunities to connect with specialists through the conference reception and dinner.
