Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In this work, a subcategory of nanotechnology, the latest development of nano- and micro-containers are explored,  and gives examples of the industrial application.  Including corrosion healing, cancer therapy, cement healing, antifouling, etc. This is an interesting work, in the present manuscript, author should be answers the comments given below and mentioned in revised manuscript.

Comments

1.Please control the number of keywords in the appropriate range, “antibacterial” or “antimicrobial” please select only one.

2.Please compare the characteristics and applications fields between organic containers and inorganic containers.

3.Chapter3.4.1 Thermal Energy Storage (TES) mainly discusses the basic theory, especially in chapter 3.4.1.1 and chapter 3.4.1.2, which need to be simplified appropriately, focusing on the application of nano-containers.

4.Figure 15 is unclear, please use the original image or increase the resolution.

5.The section on future prospects in Chapter 4 Conclusions can be further enriched.

Reviewer 2 Report

This manuscript describes ‘All-purpose nano- and micro-containers: A Review of the new engineering possibilities’. The review is well written, and the title clearly identifies the subject matter. I would suggest accepting it after addressing the following comments:

·                 Despite the writing is, in general terms good, an English revision is strongly encouraged. There are a lot of grammar and spelling mistakes that need correction.

·                 Write Figure 1 through the test as it is not mentioned.

·                 In page 6 line 132 change Fig. 5 to be Fig 6.

·                 In page 14 line 384, change 3.8 to be 3.7.

·                 Figure 15 is not clear and must be changed with higher resolution one.

·                 References from 87 to 92 are missing in the text.

·                 The authors must add future perspective and recommendations.

·                 Finally, the authors should revise the review suitably to have the merit of publication in Eng journal and I recommend its publication after minor revision.

Reviewer 3 Report

1. Some pictures are a little blurry, such as Figure 5, Figure 12, Figure 13, and Figure 15.

2. In recent years, superhydrophobic materials show good application prospects in the field of antifouling, the authors are encouraged to refer to the following papers (Composites Part B 2022, 236: 109797; Science advances, 2020, 6(3): eaaw9727; ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces 2022, 14(32), 37039-37050.), etc, may be for your description.

3. The author should compare and evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of inorganic containers and organic containers.

4. In the conclusion, the future research direction should be prospected in more detail.
