Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

I think that this is a very well written manuscript on an important study. I have not associated learning of social skills with learning of English as students can develop social skills in other courses, too. But I think that the authors may have an important point to make. I suggest that the authors should engage with more literature online language learning and teaching. See a collection of studies at System (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0346251X22001002) to make your studies more relevant to researchers in language learning.

I also suggest that you organize the presentation of findings as answers to research questions. I found it difficult to work out whether or not all the research questions are answered. It is better to make the alignment between research findings and questions much more explicit.

The article is profound and covers a pretty urgent aspect of monitoring that has a sure impact on further education.

Author Response

Dear reviewer,

Thank you so much for your comments.

Reviewer 3 Report

The overall manuscript displays potential of sufficient quality, but I miss two crucial aspects that contribute to scientific rigor: (a) consent and (b) reliability measures. In addition, there are a few things that require improvement on a text-level. First, the punctuation is incorrect (or odd) every now and then. Words are missing (or just not used properly) and some sentence construction are incorrect. Moreover, some essential terms—primarily in the methodology—are odd (the word choice is uncommon). I would suggest to use a few other articles are best-practices to inform you about suitable terms for your own work. These two improvements are the result of not mastering some crucial academic writing skills. In addition, the errors throughout the manuscript might be the result of being non-native English speakers/writers. I would suggest to let a native English speaker read your manuscript before any (re)submission.
