Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In this review paper, the authors present a well-written, extensive summary of the field, including both observational and theoretical aspects. I do not see any issue in accepting this paper.

Only one minor concern is that authors expressed as if they expected the presence of ICD as in MW.
"... led to rather pessimistic conclusions .." in P2
"... also do not look promising ..."  in P4.
Even if ICD suffered from a hostile environment, that is not pessimistic nor less promising.  I just suggest rephrasing a bit.

Author Response

Q1. "... led to rather pessimistic conclusions .." in P2
A1. We rephrased the concerned sentence on page 2
Q2. "... also do not look promising ..." in P4.
A2. Rephrased.
All changes and corrections are bold-faced.

Reviewer 2 Report

Q1. The subsection “hydrodynamic instabilities” (page#6, line#239) discusses instability ranges of which system? Is it true for any cloud immersed into an ambient gas as stated or only for the dust particles?

Q2.  The authors have used the word “dust destruction” throughout the manuscript. Also, it has been stated (on page#19, line#652) that the dust particles survive thermal destruction. Isn’t this statement contrary to the first? If not, then both the statements must be stated clearly to exhibit their meaning.

Q3. What can be concluded from the graphical illustration in the manuscript? For example, Figure 1 (page#3) exhibits excess of dust mass as the distance of the galaxy from the center increases. What type of information can be deduced from the three curves?

Q4. The manuscript needs to be revised as it has many grammatical mistakes. Few of them are listed below:

  1. Page#2, line#66-68. The meaning of this statement is unclear.
  2. Page#19, line#639 (The problem of_____ 70 years ago).
  3. Page#19, line#650 (However, it the way____with hot ions).
  4. Page#20, line#682 (Abbreviation for ICD and IRAS).

Q5. The manuscript is a theoretical analysis of how dust is transported into intracluster medium. The associated mechanisms and their characteristic time scales have also been mentioned with a lot of references but what are the actual findings of the manuscript? Since no mathematical framework is constructed, can we say that this manuscript only states the issues (previously found in literature) from a theoretical point of view?

Q6. The author may need to study Hydrodynamic properties of dissipative fluids associated with tilted observers, to analyze their results.

I am most willing to see the revised version of this paper.

Round 2

Reviewer 2 Report

The authors answered to all our criticisms and questions exhaustively. Therefore, I support the publication of the current version of the paper.
