Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

To Authors,

I found the paper 『 Validation of Tidal Stream Turbine Wake Predictions and Analysis of Wake Recovery Mechanism 』 is innovative and interesting for our readers. Overall the manuscript is excellent except that require the revision as the following.

Reorganize the abstract and conclusion to simplify the content and address the major points in terms of results and discussion. Describe the architecture of experiment and hardware equipment in the validation of tidal stream turbine for wake prediction. Authors shall tabulate the chart to compare various simulations such as ANSYS/Fluent and OpenFOAM using the turbulence models for both URANS and IDDES, that illustrates their characteristics in results and discussion.

It will be a nice publication once these are corrected.

Reviewer 2 Report

Dear Authors,

this is generally a nice paper with a very interesting topic.

The paper is generally of very good quality, only minor corrections are necessary.

Please consider the notes in the attached PDF file.

(My opinion is, that typically (I saw similar investigations of other groups) the size of the flume is too narrow for the turbine. Therefore the performance curve and the wake are different compared to turbines at real application. This does not reduce the importance of the present investigation, but attention is needed if results should be transferred to open water application.)
